Spherical roller bearings are used if the bearings are required to withstand the heaviest loads. They have barrel-shaped rollers as rolling elements that are arranged in two rows next to one another. The inner ring has two separate raceways. Since both sets of rollers run in a common spherical outer ring raceway, shaft deflections and any misalignment of the bearing seats are compensated for.

They accommodate high radial and relatively high axial forces in both directions and have been designed for medium speeds. The inner rings can optionally be produced with cylindrical or tapered bores.
